darkness, real darkness, was more than just a lack of light

Miranda adjusted her dress as she waited for the interviews to start. It was her job to make sure every tribute would shine and she would be doing just that tonight. The interviews started with district one and ended with the male tribute of twelve. She took a deep breath before taking the small microphone that would be pinned onto her dress while the Avox slowly adjusted it. She smiled towards her as her intro began to play and she stepped out onto the shining stage. The booming music played as she sat down on the plush purple chair.

The last girl that she had just seen wore a fabulous yellow dress but she had just seemed too innocent...how long would she last in the games? The next tribute that came had come from the same district of seven. Miranda had no time to yawn now as she had seen many come and go and heard much juicy gossip that they decided to share with the rest of Panem, all she could really hope for was that the gossip would continue so that the citizens of the Capitol (and the districts) would remain entertained.

When the male from district seven came out towards the flashing lights Miranda held out her arms for a hug trying to make the tribute feel welcome.

"Welcome honey, oh my goodness your stylist certainly did well dressing you up tonight didn't they?" she asked while taking a seat.

She sat quietly because of how surprised she was with Felix acting like he wanted to push people away when what he really needed was people to flock towards him. Miranda tried to think of what to say as he just gave simple answers when with previous tributes they were all smiles and giggles but this one had been much different. At least he had accepted her gentle hug that she was required to give to all tributes to make them feel comfortable on the stage and welcome.

A question she had asked many tributes before was how they felt when they were reaped but those were regular games. These games were different and she would be asking a different but similar question.

"As you all know I like to ask how tributes felt when they were reaped. But with the Quarter Quell you could imagine how different their reactions were." she said as she spoke to the Capitol and district then she turned to Felix "How did you feel when you were reaped?" she asked.

Miranda began to slowly uncomfortable as she tried to make Felix loosen up but it seemed as there was no solution. District seven wasn't her favorite as many of them had rough edges that just wouldn't smooth. The girl before him seemed nice enough but not this one, oh certainly not this one. "It's okay honey, get comfortable! This is your moment."

She had thought maybe that would usher him to speak up more, after all how would he get sponsor gifts when he would...dispose...of someone as she liked to put it. The awkward silence was strange since the whispers in the audience grew and she knew that she was being watched by the Government and they wouldn't be happy about this. A smile flashed across her face before she spoke "So, what would you do if you won this Quarter Quell?" she asked the tribute before turning to the audience members "Wouldn't that be an achievement?" she said with a laugh that even made others want to laugh then she slapped the tributes knee trying to get them to react as they had.
